Anyway to make soap cure faster?

Question: We are doing a project on a business proposal, and the girls decided on organic soap. When looking it up we saw that it takes several weeks to cure. Is there anyway to speed this process to just a few days, or a week at most?

Answer: You have a couple options. The easiest way is to 'force' the soap to go through a gel phase. If you're not making a milk based soap--then it's not a problem. Follow your cold process recipe per instructions. After you pour it in the mold, you will either insulate the mold w/towels, blankets or any heavy material to trap the heat in. If you're lazy like me--have your oven set to 170-200 degrees while you make the soap. After you pour it in the mold, cover and place in warm oven for two hours--turn the oven off and leave in until morning. You will have 'forced' your soap to go through a gel phase and completely saponify. (Make sure you're superfatting your soap at least 5%--8% is better). You will be able to slice and use the soap in the morning. You can also try hot process--but that does take more experience.
