Would it be stupid to name a baby girl Cinderella?

Question: Or is it cute to name a baby girl Cinderella as her first name

Answer: Hmmm - I once had a dog named Cinderella. (I really did! I also had a dog named Bambi!) I don't think she would be taken very seriously, with a name like Cinderella. Plus, being a teacher, I know it can be really hard to say some names with a straight face. I know of one teacher who has a "Precious" in her class. Precious is anything BUT precious! I have an "Adorable" in my class. Now, just imagine being ten years old and having the name "Adorable" - imagine a boy walking up to you and saying "Hi Adorable" "Adorable, can I borrow your pencil" Now imagine being "Adorable" at 15, with huge zits on your face, feeling awkward, and wondering why your parents ever named you "Adorable..." Same thing goes for Cinderella. It is too "disneyfied" Besides, remember, Cinderella literally stands for "Cinder-maid" - she was a housemaid whose rag clothing was covered in ash and soot (cinders). She dreamed that Prince Charming would come and rescue her from her life of isolation and sadness. Not exactly the images you want associated with your beautiful baby girl, I would think... If you like the name, try Cindy, Cynthia, Ella, etc. But I would probably recommend steering clear of Cinderella simply because it is SO a Disney Princess name with some pretty strong connotations attached to it.....
