Answer: There's many different varieties of acorns, but I don't know of any deadly varieties. Most need some sort of processing before people can eat them. It's a lot of work, but the natives did it and used acorn mush as a staple in their diet. Acorns aren't great for cattle, it may bloat them and constipate them. They contain tannic acid. Different varieties in different years have more than others. The web has all kinds of background information on this.
